What this means is that during a session with me, I observe and document your family's you-niqueness.
I don't direct you, I don't demand smiles from everyone throughout the session.
I don't do posed pictures (except for a few posed family portraits at the beginning or end of the session).
I document the essence of your family ~ it is a snapshot of what life looks like for you at this exact moment in time.
Authenticity is the name of the game.

There honestly is nothing worse than that awkward feeling you have when you first arrive at a photo session or the photographer walks through your front door.
What are we going to do during this session? My family is so boring. I hate smiling for the camera! How am I going to relax so I don't look as awkward as I feel? I ain't no circus monkey!
These are some of the thoughts that might be racing through your mind so, in an attempt to eradict this noise from your mind during the session I encourage families to have a think before the session of their favourite thing/s that they love doing together as a family. There are two reasons for this:
1. It gives you something to do during our time together. Nothing worse than two hours worth of telly watching memories, eh?
2. You'll feel helluva lot more relaxed during the session if you're all just getting on with doing something that you love to do. You'll relax to the point that you'll forget that I'm there with my camera and it'll be nowhere near as awkward as those posed, cringe photo sessions.
So whether it's baking, barbequing, bike riding, forest walking, swimming ~ you name it, I'll document it. It might sound a bit odd at first but the beauty of a session like this is that you'll be getting high quality images of your entire family doing the things you love the most and you won't feel cringe during the session. Oh and did I mention that you'll ALL be in the pictures?

100% authenticity with zero cringe

In a nutshell ~ documentary family sessions are snapshots of your life.
The raw, unscripted, unposed, messy, one of a kind, beautiful life that you spend every day living.
The beautiful home that you've worked so hard to give your children.
The love, connections and honesty that fill your heart with so much joy.
So I guess the only question left to ask is ~ why wouldn't you want a documentary session to capture all of this for you??
