I live in Hampshihre with my husband and two boys. I haven't lived here forever though ~ here is my little life story :)
I was born in a sunny coastal town called Durban in South Africa. I was taken home from the hospital to a home that was built by my dad and that is where I lived until I was 22. I spent so much of my childhood riding my bicycle, playing with my dolls, going to the beach and swimming in the pool and I'm really lucky that my mom loved taking pictures of it all.
Like I said, I left home when I was 22. I moved up to Johannesburg [the economic capital of South Africa] to pursue a riveting, big girl, very serious career in law. I practiced as an attorney for 5 years and then just before I turned 30 I had an epiphany ~ there had to be a better way to live life than by fighting with people for a living. So what did I do? An online photography course :) And then, a month and a couple days after turning 30 my husband and I sold everything we had, packed up our lives and made the big move to the UK.
18 days after I turned 32 I became a mom and that's when I picked up my big fancy camera and I haven't put it down since. My full time job for the last six years has been
Home Executive | Domestic Business Manager | Life Coordinator | Manager of Mayhem
more commonly known as STAY AT HOME MOM
What this ever changing role has shown me is how many magical, need to be treasured moments exist in the monotony of everyday life. That yes, while the posed, perfect portraits in clothes that aren't yours in a studio on a bed that isn't yours are beautiful there is absolutely nothing more spectacular than pictures of you in the home that you love, in clothes that you love with the people that you love most in the world. There are so many times during my day that I've said to myself "gah, it would be so great if someone was here to take a picture of this" and that's the person that I want to be for your family.
When I'm not wrangling my kids like a herd of cats you can find me running or throwing my body into icy cold water. You say I'm crazy for doing that, I say you're crazy for not! I absolutely love being outside because to me, nature is therapy. I try and look for glimmers (small little bits of joy) in everyday life as I've found that it's a wonderful way to appreciate and love the life you are living instead of waiting for big, grand adventures to happen to be happy. The motto that I live by is:
The curtain is up. This isn't a dress rehearsal. You've got one life. Live it!
